Responsibilities:
- To work closely with the Group Chief Financial Officer in all legal and compliance issues and to liaise with various components and departments to ensure effective discharge of the legal and compliance function.
- To provide legal counsel and guidance on the ordinary and special activities in ensuring the rights of the Company are well protected and in compliance with the relevant laws.
- To assist in the maintenance of the legal and compliance framework including the repository of laws and regulations to ensure compliance to laws, regulations, standards, policies, procedures and risk framework.
- To draft and review contractual documents and litigation matters.
- To assist in the conduct of legal and compliance reviews for identified areas within the Company to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- To advice on and participate in dispute resolution and processes and manage litigious issues, initiate and defend corporate litigations, oversee the litigation process, and liaise with and instruct external lawyers, where appropriate.
- To coordinate legal review and opinions from external lawyers or regulatory bodies on corporate transactions.
- To review internal controls and monitor the effectiveness of controls and other processes taken by various components and departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- To develop and maintain legal and compliance related manuals and policies.
- To prepare legal reports and statements of legal nature.
- To monitor and ensure timely submission of compliance reports from all the relevant components and departments.
- To perform periodic audit at various components and departments and to compile the audited result for the Management review and next course of action/improvement.
- To reviews the existing programs and processes and identifies appropriate actions for improvement.
- To provide advisory and solutions to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
- To attend to and solve any legal issues that may arise from time to time.
- To keep abreast of new legal regulatory and material regulatory changes, new developments and international best practices on Regulatory Compliance.
- To represent the Company in attending hearings at court.
- To perform ad hoc tasks assigned by superior from time to time.

Requirements:
- LLB (Hons) from a reputable university and Certificate of Legal Practice.
- At least 15 years qualifying experience gained in private legal practice and/or a large corporate establishment including minimum 5 years of private legal practice.
- At least 5 years of experience in legal practise or finance industry with at least 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance or audit.
- Must be competent in all areas of legal functions including litigation, commercial, banking and/or property matters, and etc.
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office; MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook.
- Member of The Malaysian Bar (Badan Peguam Malaysia)
- Proficient in English & Malay language communication; both verbal and written communication.
- Proficient in other languages would be an added advantage.
- Possess management skills with a strategic and business perspective.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, management and drafting skills with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Excellent planning, organizing and presentation skills
- Good leadership skills.
- Ability to define problems and generate creative solutions
- Ability to deal with problematic and/or difficult people and/or situations.
- Self-motivated and result-oriented.
- Independent and capable of working under pressure.
- Must be proactive, innovative, dynamic and deadline oriented.
- Able to work under minimum supervision, takes initiatives and able to work under pressure.
- Willing to travel.
- Must be honest and high ethics.
